riding motocross on my dirtbike i managed to get into a nose dive and couldnt get out of it, and thus destroyed my left wrist in breaking the third gear speed crash fall.

I basicly dislocated most of my wrist bones, dislocated one of the long arm bones, and tore a ton of ligaments, plus i crushed my scaphoid.

now my question is, somebody who has experienced a similar injury or is a doctor...will my wrist heal sufficiently enough to be able to once again bench press like 280 lbs and withstand weight after such a serious break....i had all the necessary reperative surgery and am 19 years of age...how well should i expect my injury to heal in terms of a percentage out of 100%...yes i am impatient and have picked up a 8 lb weight and tried curling it thus feeling a lil pressure on the scaphoid bone then i immediately let go...will this have ruined my injury process?
my wrist status id say riight now is 45% recovered its only 2 months into this 6- 8 month injury...

also, i kinda still continue to drink at least once a week heavily and smoke a doob a day pretty much, will that effect the healing out come or just slow it...im willing to quit, but its tough...im just really concerned about this injury its been 2 months out of a 6-8 month recovery time....

anybody?

You might be lucky and get next to full function, but probably only if you are doing light activity on the wrist. Unlikely that you could smash yourself in the gym and not have pain long term.

You don't really expect anyone to say that heaps of piss and grass is going to improve your chances of healing, do you?

i had my first surgery a year and 3 months. after a year of trying to get it to heal (bone graph, screw, bone stimulator the whole 9 yards) it still wasnt healed. so about 3 weeks ago to try again. this time he used manufactured bone cells and blood from my hip to make a puty substance. i used to be able to lift like that but havent lifted in well over a year. however if your wrist does heal i see no reason why you would have trouble lifting again. also i drank and smoked herb the first time through and i dont know if this caused me to have another surgery but im not doing it this time around.

one last thing. how well you scaphoid heals depends a lot on the location. the closer to the finger, the better chance you have. mines the farthest away and is the worst to try and heal.

hope this helps
and hope you have a better go than me
