I am 22 years old and have been training and competed in the 100m and 200m events for two years. since may 2005 (5 months ago) I have not been able to train the way i would like due to an injury wich i think might be an chronic adductor strain.
Here is what happend: I was doing intervall sprints running 60meters full speed with moderate accelreation (however i did do blockstarts just before this wich is much more explosive).
I felt a not very distinct pain, and not a sudden pain along my inner thigh but enough for me to stop the activity i was doing.
I rested for a week and trained in simular way and again i felt the pain again. I still continued this way, perform a solid training session involving a lot of sprint and then rest for a week but i always felt pain after that weekly training session. Probably tearing something appart over and over again.
Then i rested for a couple of weeks but the pain did not go away it felt very fragile. I did anyway participated in a sport simular to baseball that we have in sweden and felt the pain while i was running i got really sore and sort of numb all of my inner thigh just afterwards. Since this I have only been doing weight training doing only a little of for example legpress exercises.
What I am wondering how serious the injury is, could it be an avulusion (tearing of a bone fragment) something more than just a strain?. I now feel pain specially in the mornings just by squezing my legs togheter in the bed. And it does not seem to improve even if i rest for a week i can still feel that sense of fragility and small pain in the morning and also during the day. I have never been able to produce pain by pressing with my fingers in the area where the mucsles and tendons inserts. Only by performing certain movements. This in contrary to what i have heard about muscles strain.
Should i rest untill i dont have any of this feelings along the adductor muscles or can I perform rehab exercises such as eccentric resistance training even if the pain does not seem to fade a way with time?
Sorry for my bad english and perhaps a too long text to go through=)
