View Full Version : Misinterpretation of MRI?

My May MRI had high grade chondral wear (superior femoral head) and mild labral tear (anteriorsuperior). My surgeon totally ignored the first finding during my first visit and zoomed in on the latter and talked about work needing to be done. The CT scan he then ordered did not mention the HIGH grade chondral wear at all. Arthroscopy led to labral repair anteriolaterally and comfirmed posterior acetabular chondropathology (gradeII). I have not had a chance to confirm it with him yet but could the chondral wear simply be the fovea which was oriented to reveal it at its deepest since the area coincides with some MRI's I have seen (online) but more shallow depression? (Looks like a dog's taken a bite from the 9-10 o'cock postion if we are looking at the left hip from front).

My operation report said no impingement so I am sure my labral tear was caused by high impact gym classes. This chondral wear business is causing much anxiety. Could my surgeon not pointed out misinterpretation out of professional courtesy? I hope someone out there can put me out of my misery :(
