Hello, this is my first post to this forum, so hello to all of you!

I am an avid mountain biker, unfortunately as it is winter in canada.. i can't get much done in all the snow! Anyway.. back in the summer i was biking quite regularly and sometimes on some really treacherous trails, therefore i had to use my hand brakes quite often.

Near the end of july i started noticing my middle, ring, and baby finger on my right hand gave me a lot of pain when i tried to make a fist.. they hurt when i put much pressure on them and i lost a lot of strength. I think the strength is back but the whole "hurts when i grip" sensation remains. I saw a physiotherapist for awhile and she said my ring finger tendon in my palm was really scarred, but it was from long term stress (probably from my career in IT).

To this day it still hurts (especially in the morning), it bugs me the most when lifting stuff or opening doors, ive been recommended a few exercises but they dont seem to do much.. anybody have any advice?

You might have trigger finger (thickening and scarring of the flexor tendons) in any of those three fingers or you might have arthritic changes in some of the finger joints. Worth getting a diagnosis. Anti-inflammatory gel on the hand might help.

Can recommend a holiday in Australia right now as the weather here is steaming. Will loosen all of your joints up once you get out of the plane.

That's exactly what my physio therapist said in the summer.. she showed me some exercises to help "break down" the scarring (orthogonal massaging opposite the direction of the tendon), but it hasn't really helped much. I'm ready to move to the next level in treatment.. should I be immobolizing it? How will this gel you speak of help?

Definitely get a diagnosis first, if it is a trigger finger see your physio again and see what they can suggest. They may suggest ultrasound.

Yep this summer in Australia is a stinker and yes it does help my hands to a degree. (Diagnosed 12 years ago with Trigger finger) I have had one hand operated on, the other isn't to bad at this stage. So how has the ski/snowboarding season been in canada?
