I broke my ankle almost i year ago, fibulla, had small plate and 4 screws put in.. stupidly put weight on it too soon after surgery and now have a misalignment which is putting stess on the talus bone. My surgeon says the only solution is to re-break realign and put in a stabilizer screw. I am 57 yrs old. 158 lbs on a 5'11'' frame (female) so I am in a quandrary whether to do this or not..surgeon says that maybe it will get worse or maybe not but I should do the surgery sooner rather than later as later could mean an ankle fusion. It has only started hurting lately and I know that I have wrenched the ankle getting on my horse. So my question is roll the dice and wait or just go a head and have the surgery now?
