Hello All
I have torn my ATFL, my CF ligament as well as my Deltoid (Yes I've done it properly, both Medial and Lateral sides!) But stupidly I had just the day before changed my health insurance and now need to either wait to get called in (Which could be another 12 months away) or wait for the 12 months period of my Private insurance and wait till November when it kicks in. Or I could pay for it myself - which is a big consideration as I'm a P.E teacher and Basketball and Football coach and play these sports as well and i'm either in constant pain or constant worry. My question is, Does anyone have an idea of how much my surgery would cost if I paid it myself? What would you guys recommend/do in my situation.
Any advice is gladly recieved!

Dave

would be interesting to know where you live.
Wth your health insurance, when you change insurance companies "transportability" comes into play and health insurers should be waiving eligibility waiting times for people transferring between funds.

Hi there,

It would largely depend on the surgeon you go to. You also need to consider ward and theatre costs for the hospital you go to.

If you're in Melbourne Mark Blackney is a great surgeon. He operated on my ankle last year and did a great job. I had an ankle reco and peroneal tendon reco. It's really important to go to someone that specialises in ankles.

Good luck !!
