I think there are analogies between the (better) NZ system for treating sports injuries and the (poorer) Australian system. Aussie system is all over the place, haphazard, combination Medicare, private health, public hospital, sports top up insurance, plus huge gaps to pay once all of the above has run out.
NZ system is simpler and can focus on prevention.
