Hi!
I am a profesional athlete. Actually i was until november 2005. My problem are my knie ligaments. In 1997 i tore my front knee ligament. In 1998 the first reconstuction attempt was made, but failed. The doctor ***ed up. The second attempt by another doctor in 1999 was a complete success. I was able to start training after 6 months of rehabilitation. Everything was fine but they forgot to mention that the ligaments would become loose after 5 years. And thats exactly what happened. Since november i am unable to train and compete. Ive been on physio therapy for 3 months without success. Then i went to get a second opinion and they said only fitness and right excercises could help me. Been doing that for more than 2 months now, without success. The knie is getting worse day by day. I cant make any fast movements at all. Im considering doing another reconstruction of my knee ligaments but im not sure if its possible. I still have 1 screw inside my knee. Does anybody have experience with that? One doctor here is saying that using new methods everything can be fixed. He is also promising that the rehabilitation will only take 2 months. And there is one more "magical" thing he is promising me: he says he can make 2 new ligaments instead of one. The new ligaments should be better then the original ligaments ever were. Now, im a bit sceptic (but desperate) so im seeking medical opinions on that subject. Thx in advance.
btw: im 27 years of age

If you are talking about ACL reconstruction, and a second revision of two failures, then it is not something you will recover from in 2 months.

It sounds as though the second surgeon did a good job. If a reconstruction fails after 5 years it is probably not due to bad surgery. Definitely seek an opinion from this surgeon if he/she still has your trust.

I would be looking for a very experienced knee surgeon though if you are going to contemplate a reconstruction of the ACL for the third time (which sounds like is what is going on).
