Cost of knee surgery for torn meniscus

Hi, i have eventually ( after many months) been diagnosed with torn medial meniscus. Do to various factors I am having to go private and would like surgery before christmas. Can anyone recommend any particular surgeon, and /or offer any info on costs involved. I am bases in Manly but am willing to travel.
so far i have been qouted around $4500, is this expensive,

$4500 all up is probably an average price. If you are looking to try to minimise the costs (which is a fair option for meniscal surgery as the expertise for this isn't as great as reconstructive surgery) then you could shop around and get less somewhere.
