Recently I had a heavy table fell on the top middle part of my foot at work. This caused massive swelling which I applied cold pack. Went to doctors got X-Ray done no breaks or fractures. However 1 week later my foot still has a hard lump which is at times painful. There is bruising which I noticed travel from base of toes now gone to the toes, however it's starting to disappear in colour. I still have pain when I try to bend my toes, also pain at top of foot when injury occured along with this lump. Have tried to elevate the foot mainly at night which seems to feel a bit better in the morning only to feel more pain later during the day. I also noticed that when I take my shoe and socks off there seems to be a sharp pain perhaps because of the pressure release.
Any idea when this lump will dissapear and what else can I do to relieve the pain during the day particulary during work. I also work part time at a club when injury occured and I am of my feet constantly at this job.
You opinion and advice is much appreciated

YOU HAVE EXPRIENCED A CONTUSION/BRUSING TYPE OF INJURY TO YOUR FOOT. I WILL TAKE SOME TIME FOR THE SOFT TISSUE SWELLING/EFFUSION TO RESOLVE. YOU MAY WANT TO FOLLOW UP WITH A VISIT TO A PODIATRIST TO LOOK AT YOU FOOT/TOES AGAIN IF YOU ARE STILL HAVING PAIN. SOMETIME FRACTURES ARE MISSED ON THE INTIAL XRAYS IF YOU HAVE GONE TO A ER DEPT.

THE HARD LUMP MAY BE A HARD HEMATOMA WHICH IS SOLIDFIED OR CLOTTED BLOOD COLLECTED UNDER THE SKIN IN THE SOFT TISSUE AS A RESULT OF YOU DROPPING AN OBJECT ON YOUR FOOT. YOU MAY WANT TO WEAR SOME SUPPORT HOSES OR KNEE HI HIGHS WITH SUPPORT TO HELP CONTROL AND OR DECREASE IN THE SWELLING. BEING ON YOUR FEET FOR PROLONG PERIOD OF TIME WILL MAKE IT SWELL. TRY R.I.C.E. WHICH MEANS REST, ICE, COMPRESSION, ELEVATION. TO ADDRESS THE PAIN TAKE SOME OVER THE COUNTER PAIN MEDS LIKE TYLENOL.

IN CLOSING, IT TAKES TIME FOR THIS TYPE OF INJURY TO HEALSEVERAL MOS. SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION FROM A PODIATRIST. I HOPE THIS INFORMATION WILL HELP SHED SOME LIGHT ON YOUR POSSIBLE FOOT CONDITION.
