Seems like there is a huge increase in sydnesmosis sprains in the NRL. Dykes is now out with pinning of his syndesmosis, as is Naiqama, and there are a whole lot of players at other clubs with more minor versions of this injury (Kimmorley, Cross R., Lett).
David Stagg in late 2004 as well.
Anything you can think of that could contribute to it? Or just bad luck?

THESE SYDNESMOSIS SPRAINS AND TEAR CAN HAPPEN WITH A SEVER ANKLE SPRAIN.

Wallaby prop, Rodney Blake, has a Syndesmosis strain and they think he'lll miss a few weeks but I think, having read some literauter on the injury, that he'll be out for some time. Maybe months. He has to carry around 130 kilos and this won't help his cause.
