Hey just wondering if anyone can help me out. i have been diagnosed with a small tear in my adductor muscle. The physio has said i wont be able to play football for aroun 3-6 weeks?.. The pain in my groin is basically gone, however the pain is now in my hamstring and quadricept why could this be?. Also are you able to play sport with a groin strain? will it get worse?

Don't take risks with groin injuries. I had a slight adductor strain, played on for weeks and developed mild osteitis pubis.

Even "mild" osteitis pubis had me out of all running for 3 weeks and off the field for 6. Read some of the stories of poor people on this forum who have had severe cases of osteitis.

Treat the muscle right, get it healthy and strong and you'll be thankful.

As for the quad and hammy pain, I'm not sure. But I'd be doing whatever I could to keep them relatively strong and flexible while you're resting and recovering the adductor.

This groin injury as described seem to be similar to that which I suffer last evening while doing karate. I approached my opponent at the neck who quickly grabbed me and "twisted" me to the floor. I was in pain in my groin and in the pelvic area.
