Sam Perrett of the Roosters has an ankle syndesmosis injury, which is the bad type of 'high' ankle sprain where the tibia and fibula bones separate. He will get scans on Monday and see Kim Slater, an ankle specialist, early in the week. This is the same type of injury that Craig Wing suffered in round 1 (which he fortunately was able to return from without surgery) but that Matt Rogers, Shannon Hegarty (Kangaroo Tour) and Trent Barrett (2003) have had surgery for. Apparently Gasnier has a similar injury and is struggling, despite his 4 tries today. If the scan results for Perrett are bad, he may require surgery, but if they show some hope for recovery, he will try to return in 6 weeks. Because he is young and a long-term prospect, the management will err on the side of caution to make sure he has no long term ankle problems.
