If I was the parent of a young boy, say 8yrs old looking for a sport to place him in to ensure he is not one of the F generation, I would be asking myself some common sense questions.
Will he make friends?
Will he be active?
Will he have fun?
And of course…….will he feel the need to inject himself with equine growth hormone?
Now although I am yet to have the pleasure of raising a son, I’ll tell you right now there is no way that he is stepping anywhere near a sport with that sort of reputation (not mentioning any names).
Yes the drugs in sports issue is a Pandora’s box for players and officials, but for the entry level kids perhaps not. With the blatant need today to be more involved in sport, opportunities will go begging to those organisations that have turned a blind eye and are now facing a public relations disaster
