Back in the 60's I broke my leg (tibia) I now have knee problems as the leg was not set very straight. I have had advice from a specialist to say that it must be rebroken and straightened using a Taylor Spacial Frame before the knee replacement. Has anyone had this done as I am worried about the proceedure and the chance of infection. Would like to get others veiws.

Hi Sparky,
I cuurently have a Taylors Spacial Frame on. The frame has been on for 14 weeks with another 3 to 4 weeks to go. I haven't had any problems with it. I had a shattered ankle with nerve damage which after 7 operations was fused but fused at an incorrect angle and I also lost 3cm of bone. The fame goes from my foot to up way up my shin. I was recommended this procedure as it is alot more accurate than just rebreaking the leg and resetting it with a rod screws and plaster. I have had no pin site infections and I was shown by the nurses in hospital how to dress the pin sites which I do once a week.
Good luck
