has anyone had their achilles scanned during the healing process to verify proper healing?
has anyone had their good leg scanned to determine Achilles condition?
has anyone heard of HGH therapy to enhance tendon recovery and strength?
has anyone been given a root cause as to why their achilles ruptured?
has anyone used an achilles support strap and or heel wedge in their shoes when returning to their sport?

my rupture took place running the bases in a softball game while I was in full stride between bases. I don't know if this is part of the cause, but I find that the molded blade type of ball cleats available in North America to be very hard on the feet. Not much cushioning. I see that Asics makes a football cleat in their gel technology that looks very good, but not available here. It is for the Australian market and called Gel Lethal Ultimate.
Has any one heard of it and do you know of anywhere to get it in North Ameica? It will be some time before I need it, but I want the best shoe money can buy to reduce the possibility of another rupture.

ASICS Gel Lethal is available in Australia and is basically a cleated running shoe, with the impact absorption characteristics of a jogging shoe. It would probably make you run a touch slower (small percentage only) than a traditional cleated boot, but would definitely load the Achilles less. You may be able to contact ASICS Australia to enquire about the price of sending a pair to the USA - try markd AT asics.com.au (@ changed to AT to prevent spammers from contacting this email address- full name is Mark Doherty).
