I was just wondering if there is anybody out there who might suffer with vertigo because of neck problems. In November of 2003 I had spinal fusion on my C5-C6 disc. In April of 2004 I had a disc replacement on C6-C7 and then in April of this year I had another disc replacement on my C4-C5. Since then I have suffered with about 4 or 5 bouts of vertigo. I had never had this before and am not sure wether this related to my surgery.

There are many different types of vertigo from the totally benign to life threatening. Due to the amont of neck surgery you have had, it is possible that you may have cervicogenic vertigo (often related to neck trauma). However your first port of call should be to the GP to check blood pressure, blood count, and exclude an ear infection. If the GP has serious concerns(which are often scary and obvious), a head CT scan would exclude many of the nastier causes. Other causes of vertigo are disturbances in the balance apparatus in the ear eg. debris causing positioal vertigo (which is recreated everytime you move into a certain position). All the best
