An English minor league footballer died after collapsing during a Conference North game.  :(

Home side Harrogate Town confirmed the death of Hinkley United defender Matt Gadsby.

"It is with great sadness that we have learnt of the death of Matt Gadsby," the club said on their Web site.

"The Hinkley United player collapsed during Saturday's game at Wetherby Road, resulting in the game being abandoned."

The Conference North is two rungs below the Football League.

Meanwhile, a Scottish second division match was abandoned with 10 minutes remaining after a player suffered a throat injury.

Eighteen-year-old Hamilton Academical defender Ross McCabe was taken from the pitch by ambulance after being caught in the throat by the studs of a Clyde opponent.

A statement on the club's website later said he is expected to make a full recovery.

The match ended 3-3 but is due to be replayed a week on Tuesday.
