Hi All,
About a month and a half ago I received MRI results on my right hip and I was told I had a "femoral acetabular impingement syndrome with labral tear". At the time I was a little shocked and declined my sports doctors option to meet with a surgeon (mainly because I was scared surgery wouldn't be an option). On October 16th, I have another appointment with her again and will ask to meet with a surgeon to discuss my options. Just wondering if anyone could explain the combo of the impingement and labral tear, most postings I've read are straight labral tears or impingements.
Here's a little info on me. I am 30 years old and live in Ottawa, Canada. I have been doing Jiu-Jitsu for 21 years, which I suspect is the cause or partial cause anyway. My pain tolerance is high so I can tolerate the pain most days without complaining, but I've had about 5 occurrences that my leg has gave away completely due to such a sharp pain. When this happens I grab a wall or furniture to keep me up. I get the use back within a few seconds, but it scares me allot when it happens. Seems I match the average as it took about two years to get diagnosed. No MRI done on the left hip, but I believe it has similar problems on a smaller scale.
Any help would be great.
Cheers,
Barrie
