femoro-acetabular impingement causes

I just got my MRI back and was diagnosed with femoro-acetabular impingement. What are the typical causes? Is this genetic or mostly caused from injuries.

I have a week left before I finally have my first appointment with my surgeon. He was highly recommended by another surgeon, but I have had to wait 3+ months to see him. I have not had a chance to talk with him yet and I am still wondering what are the causes. Does anybody know?
