I have had an elbow and arm injury for over a month caused by playing badminton. The pain is not stopping me doing everyday duties but makes lifting heavy items with one hand painful and also generally discomforting during the day. Not sure playing 2 x 2 hours badminton sessions a week is too much. I am a vegetarian and would like to know what dietary changes might help as well as best action to take on the treatment side.
Your help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Elbow and Forearm pain..........I would say I have the same problem....I am guessing generally regarded as Tennis Elbow. Local sharp pain on the outside of the bony point of elbow (Lateral Epicondyle of the Humerus) and arm pain or weakness sensations into the forearm (Extensor Digitorum Muscle) - note I am no anatomy expert so may not have th technical names 100% accurate but think they are right. I do not play tennis or any other racket sport but think I develped it through holding my two young boys who are very heavy in a fixed position with the muscle in a flexed position over and over...strain......inflamation.......aggravated again......and so on. It is I believe generally created through overuse and the badminton could do it if you had a day of strain or weakness.
Next question is treatment.........I have had massage but no noticiable difference.......I am sure it depends on the nowledge of the practioner so will try again. I suspect standard physio treatmenst will help.......symptoms only probably.......then stretching routines to maintain flexibility and prevent recurrence.
My shoulder issue is a whole other story so looking for feedback.....not real pain just changed sensations and weakness in some movements....reduced flexibilty overhead. Any experts out there

If you are going to see a physio make sure that you go and see someone who specialises in the upper limb. It is also good to go and see a physio who does manipulative therapy so that he can dig into the muscle and try to loosen it up. I have also heard that there are some practitioners do manipulative massage and clinical pilates to help increase movement.
As for the shoulder.. I'm no shoulder expert but can most definitely lend a ear and see I can point you to someone who can help.

Hi Dave
Sounds like a case of tennis elbow to me. I suffered from the same nagging pain as you. I checked out this website, tenniselbowtips.com. I ordered the eBook and have been using the exercises for about 2 weeks now. It seems to be working in relieving the pain and stiffness.
Check it out for yourself, tennis elbow (http://www.tenniselbowtips.com)
