What Do You Do When You Are In Pain And No Help Is Available? I Live In East Melbourne And Have At My Fingertips The Best Doctors Including Osteo's, Chiro's Yet I Am Alone, Do Some Exercise They Say...... I Do! I Weigh 56kg Am 54 Years Of Age, Quite Fit And Becide This Lower Back Pain Which Has Descended On Me Suddenly, Quite Healthy. I Can't Even Sit For 5 Minutes To Read A Book Without The Dull Ache Descending, I Am Comfortable Only When I'm Lying Down... Is This Normal And Do Lot's Of People Suffer This?
From The Sound Of Some Of The Posts I Should Not Even Be Complaining But As You All Know, Your Own Pain Is Always The Worst. I Have Taken Some Panadol Osteo's And Am Able To Sit And Write This, Surely The Fact That The Top Of My Leg's, At The Back And Just Above My Knees, Go's Completely Numb After Sitting For Even A Few Minutes Is A Sign That Something Is Wrong? The Main Problem Is Sore Sit Bones My Whole Lower Back Just Aches And Nothing Relieves It.
Help.... Caz.:

Have you tried physio? Also, get an MRI scan on it. Then you'll know for sure if you need excersizes or not.

If the pain radiates into your legs, it might be a disc problem. I had an old roommate in university who ran into the kind of problems you are describing and required surgery to fix the damaged disc. Hopefully you won't need anything that drastic. Nicholas' advice about the MRI is the way to go to try to pin down the cause of the problem.

Hi Caz,
I can appreciate how frustrating it is as I also suffer lower back pain. Mine is managed with keeping active and doing pilates.
If I was you I'd go and see a good sports physician that can diagnose the problem accurately. Andrew Jowett and Chris Bradshaw at Olympic Park Sports Medicine Centre are both very good. The number for Olympic Park is 9427 0366. I'm sure Osteo's and Chiro's have their place, but you really need to get it diagnosed properly by a medical doctor. They can then refer you onto the right people, ie. a good physio. Ian Macindoe and Anthony Schache at Olympic Park Sports Medicine Centre are two very good physios. I see Ian for my shoulder and back and has helped me immensely.
Good luck and let us know how you go !!
