I wonder if any one knows of any research done on the benefits of taking magnesium (high doses like 300mg a day) can be of any benefit to fresh injuries and whether there is benefit in taking magnesium for older injuries in an attempt to stop them from flaring up. My understanding of it is that if you take magnesium, it wil normally work to help relax your muscles which will ease the blood flow into the muscle which may be slightly inflamed and because of increased blood flow it will also allow the injured muscle/inflammed muscle to heal.

I'd be interested in anyone can point me in the direction of any articles which have been published on this.

To my knowledge Mg is used mostly for prevention of cramps. But I dont see any sense to use it in the treatment of injuries. The pathology of injury and Mg metabolism in my opinion are not related. Even if there is some connection, definetely not major in healing.
