Hi
I had surgery on my AT 2 weeks and a half ago as my tendon was detached from the heel bone as well it was 20% ruptured. As a result I was fitted with 2 screws in my heel bone...The pain after surgery was unbearable for almost 3 days ..since the, no pain at alll, just minor discomfort.
Yestarday I was fitted with a Bledsoe walking brace and i was told not to bear weight for 4 more weeks.
Last night I was having pain for the first time since my surgery. The pain was coming and going for at least 5 to 10 sec, kinda sharp pain on my fibula bone..I am a little worried as I am always thinking that bad things can ensue...
Is it normal to have pain during the transition from cast to a waking boot?
Thanx a lot

I had the same type of surgery with tendon reconstruction, metal anchors, and almost complete tear. My surgery was December 28th. I was in a plaster cast for 2 and a half weeks. Then a walking boot with weight bearing. The boot has 6 heel lifts which I start taking 1 out every 2 days starting next week. I have pain at the heel, seems like the anchor area. I am still out of work and try not to walk much but I have pain in the mornings for about 2 hours and then at night before bed. I also have pain during the night sometimes. I quess this goes with the healing. I have had no pain in the fibula. I do have more pain than with the cast. I quess because I am weight bearing.

Hi,
I am surprised that you were weight bearing after only 2 and a half weeks....I was told not to put any weight on it for the next four week which seem to be a pretty standard procedure. I talked on other forums with quite a few people whom most of them were non weight bearing for at least 4 to 6 weeks...Where are you at? I am in Ca, US.
Do you take any medications for pain?
What type of boot are you wearing?
There is mine:

Hello again,
When I was in a cast I could feel that my fibula bone was a bit tender and was bothering me a bit, now that I am in a boot it hurts me more. I took my boot off and touched/feel my fibula bone( the rounded head of the fibula) and indeed feels tender and it hurts..
Could this happened at the time I injured my AT?
Any of you have had any pain in your fibula head?
As paranoid and worried as I am ....I wanna get some answers from those who might have experienced or know about it..
Monday I am gonna call/email my doctor too..
