Hi guys
I have had pain in the side of my foot just below my small toe. I had it xrayed today and the report is saying calcaneal spur. I thought this was under the ankle. I run approx 5 ks a day. Any suggestion?

Thanks.

JM

John,
XR evaluates bony anatomy, so your problem is likely to be a soft tissue injury. Just to get more of an idea on location of your pain, is it on the outside of the foot at the where there is a bump? Is it more on the sole of the foot? Let us know please

Hi Mischap123, if you press from the side of the foot about 10mm from the small toe. Even a little press brings a lot of pain. Theres no pain from the bottom of the foot

John,
It could possibly be metatarso-phalangeal joint problem, the joint at the base of your small toe. If you are running 5km a day and your weight transference through your foot is not right, this joint may be injured due to excessive loads. See a professional and get it assessed.
