hello gang,
I has been 4 weeks since my surgery and I am gonna be non weight bearing for 2 more weeks....I have no pain or discomfort on my foot and the scar has no sign of infection..
My problem now is my back...I had some lower back problems before due to discus degenerative disease, but now is getting really bad due to crutches and non weight bearing status..
Any advice would be much appreciated.

nobleduke,
Sorry to hear about your troubles. I'm currently 19 months removed from surgery and back on my feet. As far as having back problems I would suggest trying to use a wheelchair until you're able to bear weight. It sounds like your on a good schedule if you're about to bear weight after 6 weeks total. I was forced to used crutches unless I was at a mall or supermarket that provided chairs. I'm guessing that would possibly help with your back but I'm not 100% sure. You should definitely let your doctor know before you try anything. Hope this helps.

noble duke,
I agree and suggest that you talk to your ortho about the referred pain in your back and discuss alternatives to using crutches. If you have started rehab you could also probably talk to your physio about it too .
From my experience with my injury, your body always tends to over compensate because it knows that one area is injured so your brain sends messages for the muscles around it to tense up to protect it.
Take it easy on the back. If it flares up ice it and to release some of the tension, heat packs can do wonders.
