Hi
I am very new to this but wonder if someone could give me some advise/suggestions about surgery to a tendon. My son was involved in an accident that caused nerve and tendon damage. He was operated on but the tendon has been joined in such a manner that he can't straighten his arm. The surgeon has offered to operate again or stretch the arm month by month to stretch the tendon - we don't know what to do. Any advise will be gratefully appreciated. He is an all round athlete and plays soccer and cricket.

Definitely he could expect to get a moderate amount of improvement by gradual stretching, but it would probably need to involve wearing splints at night to stretch for many hours at a time.

Surgery could get the full range back, but the recovery would be similar to the tendon repair in the first place (e.g. a few months) as the tendon would need to be cut and then rejoined.
