hi, i was being stupid and ruff housing with a friend. i messed my shoulder up in the process. i have been looking on the net and have seen alot of similiar injuries as mine. from all the looking i have found that i have a rotator cuff tear. when i raise my arm up from the side, i can do it without any pain. but when i raise my arm up from the front, i feel a sharp pain and it is very hard to do it. just now i fought the pain and raised it over my head just to make sure i can do it and tell myself that i wont have to get surgery. so does anyone have info on what i have? and if it is bad?

hey
i am not an expert on anything but you could have an AC separation
thats what i think i have and it is mostly caused by a blow to the shoulder which
you could have got by ruff housing
i don't know but you should look into the separation

Hi there,

It could be a number of things. There is no substitute for professional advice. I recommend that you go and see a sports physician for an accurate diagnosis. They can then refer you on as necessary.

You could try taking some anti-inflammatories and do some physio to strengthen the muscles around your shoulder. When you are referred to a physio make sure you go to someone that specialises in shoulders.

Good luck !!

Hi there,
I agree with KJ it could be a number of things and you should really go see a specialist. It good also be bursitis which is inflammation of the bursa which can cause the pain and loss of movement that you are having. I am currently suffering from it amongst other things, thats why I am going to see Perko in Sydney at North Shore. So go and see a specialist.

All the Best!!!

wow i just woke up after sleeping for about 12 hours, and i feel alot better. i can raise my arm over my head alot easier then before now and this is only my third day of the injury. well thank you guys, but i was wondering, with a seperation wouldnt i see a bone popping out or soething? cause i doont feel as though my shoulder is seperated. i am thinking maybe a minor tear.

Hi

If you did have a AC seperation you would have a bump on the top of your shoulder. I still have a bump on my shoulder and I did it neally 4 years ago...

not necessarily, grade 1 which is an AC strain i believe? this wouldnt leave a noticable bump, then again i dont think the AC is your problem. :)

i just went to the doctor and found out i dont have insurance anymore. so for now im gonna have to go by your opionions. so here are the symptons. it is hard and painful to raise my arm over my head, it doesnt hurt unless i try to raise it or move it in certain directions. i feel a little tender spot on the front. so what should i do? should i wear a sling for now or move it around or what?
