Australian captain Darren Lockyer, who has a history of susceptibility to rib injuries, has had another episode of trauma in the Test match against New Zealand. Sometimes professional players can be injected with local anaesthetic to rib injuries in order to play important matches. However, it is very unlikely that Lockyer will take this option, due to his apparent susceptibility to recurrences of rib problems. In the first State of Origin match this year, he was faced with a similar dilemma and took extra time off to allow the injury to recover. Craig Fitzgibbon is the other injury concern for the Kangaroos with an A/C joint injury.
