Would there have been any early warning signs before or during the fight that could have indicated he was in trouble or was it just one of those freak accidents?

COLOMBIAN bantamweight boxer Carlos Meza has failed to regain consciousness from a three-day coma.

Meza, knocked out in a fight here on Saturday, was today declared clinically dead.

The 26-year-old, with a professional record of 21 wins from 25 fights, was knocked out in a bout with Ricardo Cordoba of Panama.

The Colombian, who sustained cerebral bleeding and underwent an operation on Sunday to reduce blood coagulation and swelling of the brain, is now "brain dead," said the Santo Tomas hospital here.

Winston Grenald, medical officer of the boxing commission of the region of Colon where the bout took place, said boxing officials are looking into the situation "because euthanasia is outlawed in Panama" and Meza must receive treatment despite being clinically dead.

I think most of the people who support boxing originate from the region of Colon.
