I am 43 yrs. old woman who had been suffering from bone contusion at 1st metatarsal head on my left foot since June 17, 2006. Doctor put my left foot in cast for 2 weeks. Then July 5, 2006 , My right foot is developing the pain at the 1st metataral head too and doctor assumed that I might had a same symtom as the left foot. So he put me in a walking cast for my both feet. I was in wheelchair for almost 2 monts and after that I start do physical therapy by doing an ultrasound following with moisture heat. I also do an aqua swimming at the deep pool. I felt great at that time. Doctor asked me to walk in mid September 2006 and I did try but it was too painful to walk so I had to get back on boot again.:(

THen I changed a new doctor , she asked me to get a shoe with toe box, and asking me to walk with that shoe. Every doctor here in Thailand encouraged me to walk with this custom orthotic shoe so I start walking with these shoes. I starting walking with these shoes from Novermber 27, 2006 until January 15, 2007. The pain came back on my both feet especially on my right toe. I had an MRI and the result is I am having sesamoiditis for both feet and
bone contusion on my left 1st metatarsal head.

At present time I am icing my both feet every 3 hours, having an ultrasound , and resting and wearing a walking cast plus sitting on wheelchair.

I don't know how long would it took me to heal completely? Anybody can tell me?

Have you considered travelling to see someone good ?

I know that quite a few people travel to see my ankle and foot specialist in Melbourne, Mark Blackney. He operated on my ankle last year for an ankle reconstruction and peroneal reconstruction. Before the operation I really struggled to walk, but am able to walk without any problems now.

Another idea would be to see a sports physician. They should be able to refer to a good physio and orthopaedic surgeon if necessary.

It doesn't sound like you've had any physiotherapy to date. I would highly recommend you go to see a physiotherapist to help with your feet. A podiatrist may also be worth seeing. A sports physician would be able to recommend someone good.
