Spewing! Buderus is injured.........Newcastle are having the worst luck these past 9 months. I read he was playing the end of last season with pain killers for this same injury (his foot). It must be bad now because he's having surgery.

Newcastle's Danny Buderus will miss a significant part of the pre-season after he was diagnosed with ligament damage in his foot.

An MRI scan revealed damage in Buderus' toe which will require surgery and keep him off the training track until at least February.

"Danny will have to have an operation but it won't be done until after Christmas," Knights media manager Steve Crowe said.

"He still has to talk to our club doctor Neil Halpin, but it looks like he will be sidelined for at least two months."

The persistent injury flared again in the recent Tri Nations series and he has been forced to take action or risk permanent damage.

It was a sour end to a good weekend for the inspirational hooker, who was voted Rugby League Professional Association player of the year on Saturday.

Minichiello is struggling with an ankle and an hamstring injury at the Roosters as well, plus Canterbury and the Broncos have heaps of rep players on the injured list.

If they play the Tri-Nations this season, there will be a massive catfight between the teams and the ARL. The teams who have lost players for the start of the season (Broncos, Bulldogs, Roosters, Dragons and Knights) are going to bend over backwards to stop players touring in 2005.

They ask the players directly face to face on tour about whether they want to play again next year and they really have to say yes to the admin, but when they get home the coaches are spewing.

Shannon Hegarty basically was a write-off for the Roosters in 2004 after a Kangaroo Tour injury, and Willie Mason will be the same for Bulldogs this year. Buderus won't do well early on.
