What equipment is given to you guys after surgery? Did you find it made life easier or could you do without it? What is the most important bit of kit you need? Sorry for all the questions but i want to be prepared before i go in x

What kind of surgery are you having? Hip Scopes dont require any equipment except for you typical crutches. Osteotomies on the other hand require a bit of equipment, having said that you should have a PT working with you right after surgery while you are still in hospital and they will go thru the list with you maybe even arrange it for you (thats what they did for me).
The equipment you need will change according to how your house is set up (ie:Stairs, how the shower/bath tub is build etc).
Some of the things I currently have:
-Toilet seat riser (you will also have the option to have the riser come with arm rests type things to help you get up from sitting)
-Walker
-Crutches
-Grabber (a must have, you will not be allowed to bend past 90 degrees for the first 2 months)
-Shower seat
-Various little gadgets that aid in your getting dressed on your own (socks, pants)
If you are having major surgery do not worry. You surgeon will have you working a PT and they will go thru all this with you.
Cheers

Well i'm not actually sure what i'm having done as the consultant was more interested in telling me how new this proseizure is (i'm patient 21) than what he was going to do. Except he did say it's done with z-plasty? and it was meant to be a day case. But now he has decided that it's an overnight stay, but hasn't explained why this has changed from a day case to overnight. I'm hoping they will sort me out with equipment at hospital. I live in a private rented bungalow so i can't change the property in any way. My shower is over my bath so somehow i have to climb into bath in order to have a shower!! Or should i get kiddies paddling pool put small chair inside the pool and pull shower head over it?? Instant new shower?
Thanks focus for always answering my questions, I'd love to know how your getting on??
