Hello,
My wife recently sustained an elbow fracture, she broke the capatellum off at the distal end of the humerus. She had an ORIF with 6 pins holding the piece in place. We are currently 5 1/2 weeks post op. She has been doing passive and active assisted ROM for the past 3 weeks, but we have seen minimal gains since the initial gains a few days after ROM was allowed. She currently is stuck at -28 deg of extension and around 105 deg of flexion. My question is for people that have seen this type of injury before, what have your outcome experiences been. Am I being to over anxious expecting better movement at this time. She is having a fair amount of lateral elbow pain with flexion and has wrist and hand pain with supination end range. There also seems to be a pretty hard or stiff end feel with her flexion movement. Any info would be appreciated. Or direction to someone who might be able to help more ..

Thank youl.

I broke my capitellum about 6 weeks ago and I have 8 pins and a plate. I have been in PT for about 4 weeks and I am starting more agressive PT. I have not had very much improvement, my elbow is at 30 degrees. My doctors said I may have to have more surgery in the future depending on what the future holds.

I am an orthopaedic surgeon with speciality in these elbow injuries.
These are complex injuries with good outcomes only if stble fixation and early mobilization is done
you can send me the preop and post op x-rays at docajaypal@gmail.com and have an opinion.
