Hi All,
Over the past 12 months I have been getting into the weights. Over the past 6 months I have been getting pain in my right side upper back near the shoulder blade. The pain feels like it is coming from the spine area and continues around to the sternum area.
Just wondering if anyone has experienced this pain. It seems to go away when doing the bench after about the third set, but then about three days later the pain returns.
I wouldn't say its a sharp pain, but more of a muscular type pain (if that makes sense).
I have had weeks off from weights to see if that was the problem but it didn't seem to help as the pain got worse.
2 weeks ago I also pinched a nerve around the spine area near the area where the pain is (wasn't nice at all). I got rid of that within a couple of days with some heavy duty pain killers which I assume reduced the inflamation and let it settle back into place.
I'm guessing it may have been something to do with the weights technique or possibly even stress related(bit farfetched)??? Anyone got any ideas?
I haven't done any lifting above the head/shoulders area for 5 months as I initially thought that may have been the cause.
I did have a neck injury at school while playing rugby and got a couple of x-rays and all seemed to be in order. I've also been to the physio many times to try to get it right.
Any tips or pointers would be much appreciated.
Cheers
