Hi

My Husband had a Right ACL reconstruction 27 August 04 using a patella tendon graft. He has lost 15% deflexion in his knee and has now been told that he may have a cyclops lesion. He's having an arthroscopy this Friday. Are cyclops lesions common? and will he regain the movement that he's lost in his knee?

I had a ACL reco june 03... then had a scope to remove a cyclops lesion in october 04... i never had full flexion in the knee (could barely touch my backside with my foot when doing a quads stretch) i didnt have full extension either... but now although i dont have full full extension it is a lot better and feels freer than it did before... however flexion is still a problem as im pretty much where i was at before the scope.. just one of those wait and see type scenarios.. i guess my knee would feel fantastic now if i didnt have the swelling.. but good luck for ya husband..

Cyclops lesions are common and most can be cured by a second arthroscopy. Some may recur due to patient factors (propensity to lay down excessive scar tissue) and/or surgical factors (if the graft was put in a slightly anterior or forward position, it may impinge more easily creating a Cyclops lesion).

Most important thing after an ACL reco is that you want a stable knee, but after this you want one that is pain free and doesn't swell.

Had my Left ACL repaired for second time two weeks ago. First time in the 80's with huge scar on lateral aspect of thigh and knee. This repair with allograft done arthroscopicly. I seem to have some sort of "neuropathy" of sort on the dorsal lateral aspect of my left foot. Feels like a sunburn all the time. Not extremely painful but it is noticeable. If anyone has any insight I would greatly appreciate it.
