will it ever go away?? Suddenly and without any trauma (Thursday night) this huge pain became mine!! Work on Friday was unbearable and I had to leave early. You don't realise how many times you sit and stand all day long. I am taking Neurofen and Panadol only at this stage and it is only slightly better. Had to drive yesterday afternoon and pain came back immediately. Being a Sunday do I go to the Dr? Don't want to just in case tomorrow morning I wake and it has gone? Has anyone else had this problem and what do I do?
Pain on sitting intense, need advice.

1) get it properly diagnosed by a professional
2) get a haemorrhoid pillow (O shaped) to allow yourself to sit until the professional diagnoses and works out treatment protocol

Merri, I have the same problem. I fell in June 2006 and suffered torn ligaments and an avulsion fracture to my right foot/ankle. While doctoring on this injury through conservative treatments with my foot/ankle doctor, my tailbone started aching. It was so bad that my family doctor tried steriods and naproxen. I only did that for 7 days! An MRI revealed nothing so I suggested to the doctor that I get a sit/stand MRI -- I had read this at http://coccyx.org/.

Well, my foot/ankle got worse so I had to drop doctoring on the coccyx and turn my attention to this. In Dec 2007, I had surgery: Brostrom repair and arthroscopic debridement. Now, that I'm sitting more it's really bothering me. My doctor doesn't know if I injured my tailbone when I fell or if it is a result of the limping I had been doing with my foot/ankle injury. Can't say for sure....just know I need relief so I can focus on my recuperation. I feel like I'm 20 years older than I am when I attempt to rise from or turn when sitting. It's bad enough that I once I finally stand I'm bound by crutches! I have the donut pillow and am rubbing Biofreeze on it.

Have you found relief? Please share. I'm thinking of seeing a chiropractor once I'm up and driving again. My foot/ankle surgeon wants me to see a back specialist in his building.

I definately still have the pain. Certainly not as bad as before but did buy a cushion to sit on from Bad Backs, and it is OK. I haven't been to the GP because I feel it is not band enough. I no longer take analgesics but I sure notice it every time going from a sitting to standing position. I have to endure a long flight to San Fran in 5 weeks so hope it it better than. Do you think I should get an xray?
