View Full Version : Dorsal Capitate Defect
I recently had an arthroscopy on my right wrist and it was found that I have a small defect to the dorsal capitate, there is some cartilage missing. Has anyone else had this injury and know what causes it or what can be done. Will it cause long term problems? I have a history of participating in martial arts, cycling and had a fall on outstretched hand about 2 years ago which I think is what may have caused it. I am yet to get a hold of my op report to see what it says as surgery was only this week. I also had a lot of inflamed tissue removed from the wrist during surgery.

Was carpal instability mentioned at all? Were they able to do anything about the defect that was found?
The first surgery I had on my wrist had similar findings as what you described. A lot of inflamed tissue which was removed and some loose cartilage that had to be removed and cleaned up, no deformity tho.
I hate wrist injuries with a passion. They can be so complicated and difficult to treat and it's such a pain in the rear because it is such a used and important joint.
Keep your arm elevated, iced and keep us posted on your recovery.
Hi Focus,
No, instability has not been mentioned yet. I guess I have a few questions to ask next week. I was still a bit out of it when my surgeon talked to me post op so didn't really have much of a chat. I don't want to go down the road you did with yours!
