GEELONG'S interstate woes continued last night with a 13th consecutive road loss and big question marks hanging over two of its stars.

Jimmy Bartel has been reported for a second-quarter incident tripping incident, while David Wojcinski suffered a serious knee injury in the Cats' 22-point loss to West Coast.

Wojcinski will have scans in Melbourne today, but Cat insiders fear he could have suffered a season-ending rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament.

Coach Mark Thompson described the injury as "pretty serious".

Wojcinski suffered the injury trying to baulk Quinten Lynch in the the third term as he was running at full pace.

Wojcinski was having a tight tussle with Eagle star Chris Judd before coming off.

The loss of Bartel would be a blow as he returned from an extended VFL stint last year to finish in the top 20 of the Brownlow Medal with 13 votes.

He was one of Geelong's best in the 62-point win over Richmond in Round 1 and is an important player in Thompson's midfield plans.

A concern for the Cats is that Bartel was rubbed out for two matches last season after being guilty of rough play on Fremantle's Troy Longmuir in Round 20.

Nicknamed the "House of Pain", Subiaco has been anything but a happy hunting ground for the Cats, copping two serious injuries in as many years.

James Kelly broke his left leg in Round 14 against West Coast on the same ground and the Cats struggled to recover from the lengthy delay, losing by two points in a scrappy game.

Judd, last year's Brownlow medallist, could also come under scrutiny for an off-the-ball incident, with Wojcinski just minutes before the Geelong speedster went down.

Geelong has lost 17 of its past 18 interstate matches, with its last win dating back to Round 12 in 2002 - over Sydney at the SCG.

The Cats have lost their past six matches at Subiaco Oval, three against the Eagles.

Since Mark Thompson took over as Cats coach in 2000, Geelong has won eight of 28 interstate matches.

West Coast, missing Ben Cousins (finger) and Andrew McDougall (shoulder), lost big man Michael Gardiner when he tweaked a hamstring in the second term.

But it had little impact on an Eagles outfit buoyed by a four-goal return for Ashley Hansen.

Shannon Byrnes enjoyed a night out for Geelong, finishing with 24 disposals and two goals, the second major giving his side the lead midway through the third term.

3 ACL recos to this stage of the season is quite low, as Feb-April are the high risk months. Still not uncommon to hear of a non-contact in Perth early in the season, as the grass will be particularly lush with the recent hot weather they had (realise it was cold in the lead up to the Geelong game, but a couple of cool days won't thin the grass out).
