I ruptured my Achilles on a basketball game 5 days ago. 27mm ruptrure.
I am in a cast and the doctor recomended a surgery.
I am after a full recovery ( no matter how long it takes- I am not a professional basketball) and my questions is :
what are the pros and Cons for Opertaion?
Thanks

For full recovery (e.g. if you want to play social basketball), go with surgery for a 27mm rupture.

Non-operative treatment is basically for the more elderly inactive population. They can get back to gentle activities with a cast equally as well as with surgery. For ballistic activities you should use surgery and get the operation within 2-3 weeks of the initial injury if possible.

Surgery gets you better at least a month and a half faster, AND theres a lower re-rupture rate... the cons of surgery...anesthesia?
