Hello! I am 36 and I have a groin/pubis pain that kills me, probably due to one of the following:
1. I play soccer and, every time this pain returns, is because I train at shooting with my "weak" leg, i.e. the one where the muscles are not used with this effort
2. I also workout home and maybe my abs are too tensed when playing soccer, instead of being elastic and relaxed.
The fact is that this pain appeared about 5 years ago, it took 4-5 months to disappear, than remained just like a little weakness at the bottom of my abdomen and now, despite a long rest, anti-inflammatories and physiotherapy, it "cuts" me every time I try to kick the ball, and this already lasts for almost half a year! As I searched on the Internet, it seems the symptoms correspond exactly to Gilmore's groin / athletic pubalgia / sports hernia [excepting the stiffness on the day after exercise, which it said to be usual but, is absent in my case].
The physician tells me is only a strained muscle and no discussion about a rupture and/or surgery. But I still can't come back to soccer and nothing seems to cure me anymore and I don't know what to do!
And, the second advice I'd be grateful for:how shall I train my abs so they be stronger without being exhausted.
Thank you

I would avoid heaps of sit ups as sometimes this can aggravate the problem. Lower loading exercises like pilates can sometimes help.

It does sound like a classic soccer/football player's groin with perhaps some or all of:
(1) sports hernia/lower abs weakness
(2) adductor tendinopathy
(3) osteitis pubis

There are rehab options, injections options and surgical options for treating these. This web site and internet searching can help.
