I was in a car accident 9/28/03 and had both legs broken at the kness and my left foot was nearly severed. I was hospitalized 2 months and now, 20 months later, can barely walk and when I do I am in tears from the pain.
My surgeon has been pushing for fusion saying it would be the only way I will ever walk again. I am frightened of the possible complications and am totally stuck in fear. Tibular and fibular were fractured and majormaleolisis blown out.
Any suggestions directly with the subject clearly marked FUSION would be appreciated. zabutoo@aol.com

HI. My name is Steph and I had a car accident on 12/28/03. My left ankle was partially severed and crushed. I end up having an ankle fusion last August after several attempt at plates and screws that failed. I'm now working full time at my job and able to have a life again. I still have pain but it is tolerable. I take motrin only. I can't enjoy alot of sports and excercise I use to do but at least I can walk with a AFO brace and do things with my family again. Good luck things do get better.
