Hi there,
I have 2cm adductor longus tear where a little bit of the bone has also ripped off, there is also a chronic avulsion, ( a lump of blood and calcium i am told near the tear) anyway i had the mri and i told my specialist that i want to have surgery to stretch the adductor longus muscle back into place so i can continue to play soccer. i get the feeling that my specialist is trying to avoid me having surgery and told me the that adductor longus will heal itself and connect somewhere else along the line. is this true? he also gave me a quarterzone injection to help with the lump i have.
if the adductor longus repairs itself how long will it take?
also will it be strong enough to continue to play soccer at a decent level?
it has been 15 weeks since the tear but as to this day i still have the 2cm tear, i can engage in some activities like swimming and even jogging, but any sudden movement or if i run it gets sore and it feels week and vulnerable.

thanks for taking the time.

Not too many specialists (surgeons) do adductor surgery on a regular basis, so check to make sure this is a field your surgeon operates in regularly.

However, it would be worth taking extra time to get over this.
