without a doubt the best thing to happen to Carlton's list this year is the improvement shown by this fella.
Anyone really know about his injury?
Whisper is one of these "back related" hamstring jobs. I'll sniff around for you

Because of the years that Carlton were excluded from the draft and the fact that priority picks might only be around for one more year, do you think that Carlton are going to try their best (within legal means) to tank the rest of the year?
I wouldn't suggest that any players ever take the field not trying their hardest (and I honestly don't believe this would ever happen), but the way the clubs do it is to treat the players like normal human being rather than the elite cattle that players generally are. For example, elite piece of meat gets to miss 2 games with a grade 1 hamstring, normal human being misses 10 weeks with the same injury. Another common example, normal pro player subluxes his shoulder = rehab and plays the next week, whereas for team coming last = the medicos do an MRI scan and the inevitable Bankhart lesion is seen, refers to the shoulder specialist and out for the rest of the season with a reco.

What are you suggesting here?
Carlton have the priority pick in the bag already.
Waite has missed 2 years with injury already.
Surely now he needs games under his belt to fulfil his huge potential.
This was a pretty poor post by you - injury update.
We members deserve better than that!

Carlton won 4 games in a row in the Wizard Cup, so it is definitely not a guarantee that they'll get the priority pick at this stage. Three more wins out of the remaining 9 games would scuttle the pick for them. They would have to win 9 from 9 to make the finals, which obviously won't happen.
Given they are not in the frame for finals, it is a huge incentive to not accidentally win too many games to move down the draft pecking order.
Have to say I know nothing about Waite's injury and whether he should be in or out.
Anyone who dares speak about priority picks openly and honestly knows that this issue is a big one. The American system used by the NBA (of a draft lottery) is a better one. First few picks are allocated randomly but you have more tickets in the raffle the fewer games you have won. Therefore the situation never arises late in the year where a single win is going to cost a team a major draft choice.

My comment related to the inference that Waite not playing had to do with Carlton's ladder position.
I thought this was crap! J.Waite and Carlton will benefit in future years as he gains experience.
Carlton will get the p.pick this year. Collins said as much when he classed the list as c-z graders.
They have one of the best coaches. All they need now is some playing talent. This can only be found at the draft table early on. Expect the blueboys to be doing a St.Kilda and getting priorities for the next 2-3 years. Only then will they get back to AFL finals standard.
Carlton is a proud club. Only flags are accepted as true success. It may be 5-10 years away. If you ask a magpie or saint, they will say thats no time.
