Just wondering if anyone knows how long after an ACL reconstruction you can begin kicking the football. I know every case is different, just wondering are there any theoretic guidelines to follow before starting to have a kick again.

Definitely don't try within 4 months - thereafter if your knee is doing well you might be OK. I haven't heard of anyone rupturing an ACL on the kicking leg during a kick, but the landing mechanism can sometimes be at risk. Studies have shown ACL graft is very weak between 6-12 weeks. Therefore once you get to 4 months the strength is OK for low risk movements like jogging and kicking. Leave pivotting, landing from a jump, contact sports etc. until at least 6 months afterwards, preferably 8-10 months if you want to be sure.
