Hi All
Have had neck and shoulder pain/stiffness for about 3 weeks with no known reason. Woke up last Sunday and had no strength in right arm, could'nt lift higher than shoulders, have slight strength back to the extent of able to lift arm and hold for about 5/6 seconds. Had xrays and scan with no issues. Experiencing pain from right side of neck down the arm when moving neck in certain positions, mainly to the left and tilt up and backwards, also aching and burning type feeling in arm.No numbness or tingling. Have seen physio, recommended specialists attention re;nuero, do u think chiro could help???
HI
the loss of strength i have only felt when i slept on my arm and woke up because it was numb and that only happened because not enough blood was in my arm. so if it happens suddenly and you get pain in your arm often it might be signs of a heart attack best thing to do is see a doctor right away.
See a doctor and ask him for a total body check up. because if you actually scanned your neck and shoulder and there isn't any problems, it could also mean that your "motherboard", which is your brain has not enough blood flow to those parts of your body.
Do a check up and get well soon!
Occassionally a cervical disc bulge may cause the symptoms you describe and not be detected on a scan (as the disc is relatively malleable and may move back into it's original position when lying). An experienced physiotherapist should be able to determine if this is a likely scenario. Check out the following link for detailed information on these injuries:
Cervical Disc Bulge
Hope that helps,
Sounds like a disc bulge causing nerve impingement. If your symptoms get worse down the arm when you look up to the ceiling and extend your neck, it is more than likely a disc bulge affecting the nerve supply down your arm.
