Not long really and it will soon go! And as Rayray says, welcome the new pain free life you'll be able to have once it's done. xx

Wow Feb 3rd, that's quick! So is it a THR that you are definitly getting? Were you told why a resurfacing isn't for your case?

Definitely THR he did tell me why and I know we discussed it I distinctly remember asking aquestions but to recall what it was now eludes me and I cant get back to see him til early next year so I have made an appt with my GP to get all the gaps filled in - I know he has all this info as my specialist emails all the information films etc through to him - so I will have way more info tues day afternoon - sorry I seem vague but my brain went limp the moment I heard those words - and I know MR R would not do an un necessary surgery.

Hey Katz. Sorry about you needing hip replacement.... hope it all goes well. I noticed in your first post that you were quite ill before the hip situation went downhill. Were you by chance on any Quilolone antibiotics? I once was on a drug called Avelox, and a day or two after beginning it, my hand and knee joints hurt horribly, I couldn't even open a water bottle, standing and walking was near impossible. It seems that there have been reports of quinolone drugs causing joint or tendon inflammation or cartiledge damage. I have had mild arthritis ever since taking Avelox. A lot of people think we quinolone doubters are conspiracy theorists, but after feeling the damage first hand, I don't doubt it one bit. Of course, this only happens with very very few people who take the drug, but you may want to look into it. If that isn't the case...still hope you mend quick. I have an open dislocation scheduled Jan 11th, it is scary, but hopefully we will pull through for the better.

No I didnt take any drugs apart from the over the counter chesty forte type stuff - in hind sight I should have gone to the doctor but generally they just tell u to go home plenty of liquids and sleep it off - so I left out the doctor step lol
