    Default Would you recommend surgery?

I have been diagonsed with osteochondritis dissecans of the talus after spraining my ankle wrestling. It's been several weeks on crutches and in an air cast but still hurts/aches if I walk or stand on it for anything more than minimal amounts of time. I really want to be back to being my active self and this injury has really turned my life upside down. My doctors have not been very helpful in answering my questions or telling me what the future holds. Below is a link to my x-ray. Can someone tell me the chances of needing surgery or if this will resolve itself?

    hi cup_cakes,

lots of sympathy for you - i know its not easy losing an active lifestyle. I don't know about your condition I'm afraid, but good luck trying to get a good doctor.

If you are in the UK, have you tried speaking to a different GP to get a new referral? Everyone is entitled to a second opinion and it seems a little unfair that your doctors haven't old you enough.

    Good luck, Tamsin

    Hi cup_cakes

This site may give you a bit more info on the condition.

Hope you find another doctor that explains things better.
