There aren't a whole lot of message board threads out there on sesamoidectomies so I thought I'd start one in case anyone else out there has had this surgery or is seriously contemplating it.
I had a sesamoidectomy of my fibular sesamoid about 5 weeks ago. It seems to be healing well although slower than I thought. My doctor had told me that I would be non weightbearing (crutches and bed rest) for 2-3 weeks and then able to walk on it. I didn't realize that it would still be pretty painful and swollen. I guess the optimist in me thought I would be up and walking around the zoo with my son after a few weeks and now I just long for the days when I can walk around a grocery store! Anyway, I thought I'd share my experience so far.
