Gold Coast flyer Kevin Gordon's season is over after he ruptured his ACL against Melbourne
FOXSPORTS
In a shattering blow for the promising 21-year-old, scans on Monday confirmed he'd suffered the season-ending knee injury trying to stop Melbourne winger Justin O'Neill from scoring in the 50th minute during the Storm's 40-12 romp at Skilled Park.
Gordon, who'll undergo a full knee reconstruction later this week, had played 51 consecutive games for the Titans.
"I was trying to stay positive until I got the scan and the doc said you have to get an operation," said a shattered Gordon.
"It's disappointing but I've got to take it as it is, an opportunity to focus on something else other than footy until 2012.

"I want to try and get involved in the community as much as possible and re-arrange my goals.
"It's not about what life gives you, it's what you do about it.
"I can't do anything about what's already happened so I've just got to get on with it and look to the future and do what I can outside of footy."
An electrifying runner, Gordon grabbed 12 tries last season, taking his career tally to 25 for the club.
Coffs Harbour-born Gordon made his debut against the Bulldogs in round three 2009, making an immediate impression with his speed and footwork.
Titans coach John Cartwright, who believed his young winger was on the brink of making his representative debut, will name a replacement on Tuesday for Friday night's derby clash with Brisbane at Skilled Park.
No solid prognosis from medical staff yet until all scans have been done BUT looks long term.....

St George Illawarra prop Michael Weyman faces a lengthy stint on the sidelines after reinjurying his groin
FOXSPORTS
There was no man more shattered in the Dragons dressing room last night than prop Michael Weyman.
Weyman broke down with a serious groin injury in the 18th minute, hobbled off the field in pain and was not sighted for the rest of the miserable night.
The international prop underwent groin surgery after last year's grand final, and knew he was in desperate trouble when flattened by Sharks skipper Paul Gallen in a tackle and felt discomfort in the same area.
"My leg slipped and I felt pain straight in the groin," said Weyman, who could barely walk afterwards and needed his father to drive him from Toyota Stadium.

"It started to hurt. I'm just shattered. I'll know more tomorrow."
Gallen immediately waved to the referees and medical staff after he spotted Weyman wince in pain on the damp turf.
"I had crook groins last year, Gal was in the Origin team and he knew they were bad," Weyman said.
"He's a good bloke."
Cronulla did not muck about up front and the Dragons were always on the back foot, especially after Weyman was forced to depart.
Coach Wayne Bennett feared the worst for 26-year-old Weyman, who would have been keen to build some early-season momentum in the hunt for a the Blues front-row position. Fellow NSW prop candidate Kade Snowden exited the field not long after Weyman with initial reports he had suffered a fractured eye socket.
But Cronulla fans -- and Blues coach Ricky Stuart -- breathed a sigh of relief when he returned midway through the second half and continued to punish the Dragons with brute force.
As for the Dragons, Bennett said a quick chat with his players made him realise there was no way they would take the local derby lightly. After all, they could have been forgiven for doing so after the Sharks were flogged last week and already early contenders for the 2011 wooden spoon.
"Not when you listened to the St George Illawarra players talking about the Cronulla games," Bennett said when asked if he had taken the Monday night fixture too casually.
"Anybody who approached this game in the manner of [just] turning up here tonight -- and in the end that's the way we look like we played, like we would just turn up and win -- but it was a bit more to do with our success last year than underestimating Cronulla."
Cronulla halfback Wade Graham could also be sidelined, but through suspension rather than injury.
Graham was put on report for a first-half tackle on Matt Prior after his right arm slipped up and made contact with Prior's head.
Graham will be desperate to escape any punishment and play in Saturday's clash with Penrith -- the same club that cut him loose last season.

Both will be named, I still think Hannant has a slight cloud for this round though.
Broncos big guns back for Titans clash

Big guns Justin Hodges and Ben Hannant are to return from injury for Brisbane in Friday's NRL derby clash with the Gold Coast.
As the Titans came to grips with losing winger Kevin Gordon (knee) for the rest of the season on Tuesday, Broncos coach Anthony Griffin was able to welcome back two of his stars for the Skilled Park match.
Their return plus an injury to young winger Dane Gagai caused a reshuffle of the Brisbane side which started the NRL round of upsets by beating Canberra 20-4 away last Friday night.
With Hodges restored to the centres, Gerard Beale shifts onto the wing to cover for the loss of Gagai and Jack Reed switches from right to left centre.
Hannant comes into the starting pack in place of Scott Anderson, who tore his calf muscle in the warm up before the Canberra match, and joins Sam Thaiday in a representative front-row pairing.
It will be 548 days since Hodges last weaved his magic in the NRL but Griffin said there were signs in the pre-season trial matches, before he tore his hamstring, that he was ready to return with a bang.
Assistant coach Allan Langer cautioned it would be unreasonable to expect Hodges to hit his straps against the Titans after more than 18 months out of football.
"It would be good to get 40 to 60 minutes out of Hodgo and hope he gets through the game and doesn't pull up sore," said the former Broncos champion halfback.
Brisbane are expecting a titanic tussle on Friday night with the Gold Coast desperate to redeem themselves after a woeful 40-12 loss to Melbourne last week left them with an 0-2 season start.
Brisbane squad: Josh Hoffman, Jharal Yow Yeh, Jack Reed, Justin Hodges, Gerard Beale, Darren Lockyer(c), Peter Wallace, Sam Thaiday, Andrew McCullough, Ben Hannant, Alex Glenn, Matt Gillett, Corey Parker. Interchange: Ben Hunt, Ben Te'o, Josh McGuire, Shane Tronc.

Raiders keep Dugan option open

Dynamic fullback Josh Dugan could return from injury for Canberra in Saturday's NRL clash with Wests Tigers, despite not being named in the team on Tuesday.
Dugan has missed the first two rounds as he recovers from a thigh injury but assistant coach Quentin Pongia indicated he could play the match at Campbelltown.
The Raiders named David Milne at fullback but will wait to see how Dugan gets through training this week before making a final decision.
"He (Dugan) needs to get a couple of training sessions under his belt," said Pongia.
Centre Jarrod Croker was named in the team but is also in doubt with a corked thigh.
Prop Brett White is set to return from his one-match suspension after being named on an extended bench.

Lock David Stagg makes his return from a one week quadriceps strain in the only change to the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs side to play the Sydney Roosters in Sunday's Camp Quality match at ANZ Stadium.
Bulldogs head coach Kevin Moore moved Stagg straight back into his run on side after he was a late scratching for the Bulldogs round two victory over South Sydney.
It means Corey Payne moves back to the interchange bench after he started the match against the Rabbitohs.
Moore has also retained centre Tim Lafai, who scored a try on debut on Sunday, and Dene Halatau, who performed strongly after being elevated to the NRL side from the NSW Cup at the conclusion of round one.
Sunday's match (kick off 2pm) will see the Bulldogs put the focus on premier community partner Camp Quality, with a host of activities planned for over the course of the day.
Not sure how bad Gibbs is but ellis is out of round 4 (a possibility for round 5)

Injury update after Round 2

After a win over the Sydney Roosters on Sunday, the Sea Eagles injury list had a couple of extras added to it.
Both Tony Williams and David Williams battled on into the game despite both carrying injuries.
'T-Rex" was struggling with an ankle injury throughout the match while it was thought that the "Wolfman" almost wasn't going to play after suffering back spasms in the warm up.
Both will be monitored this week by medical staff to determine whether they will take to the field for round 3.
Glenn Stewart has been named in the team this week despite initial reports he may be sitting on the sidelines. Stewart injured his arm in training on Saturday.
Jamie Lyon is still set to be out for another three weeks. Shane Rodney will undergo shoulder surgery this week after dislocating it in last week's NSW Cup game.
Co-captain Jason King has served his one week suspension and will return to the side this week in an added boost for the team and Steve Matai's anticipated return is in round 5.
Apparently the scan indicated a slight tear. But he has also been ruled out for 6 weeks.......... since when does a slight injury require 6 weeks recovery? I reckon it might be a bit worse than they are letting on....BUT i have been wrong before.
FOXSPORTS
The Moruya Sharks junior sustained the injury during the first half of the Dragons clash with the Sharks on Monday night.
"We received the full medical report today from the scans that Michael had yesterday and he has sustained a slight groin tear that will require him to be sidelined for about six weeks," Dragons Performance Director Jeremy Hickmans said.
"He will not require any surgery".
